Much more than just performing arts

Kids have so much talent and so much to give and with inspirational teachers behind them, what they can achieve is limitless. That's why we love ACE.

I had the pleasure of meeting the crew at Arts Creatives in Education (ACE), visiting one of their weekend classes in Hampstead, London. Holly, Lisa and James were in full swing captivating their young performers. The hall was filled with music and kids rehearsing for their upcoming show. With so many smiling faces, it could only mean one thing - the kids loved what they were doing.

Performing arts classes typically include drama, singing and dancing lessons, but it's so much more than that. ACE want to help kids to build their confidence and self-esteem. They encourage team-work and self-expression.

Classes at ACE offer a fantastic week to week grounding in singing, dancing and acting as well as wonderful term-based projects such as film making which culminates in a premiere at the local cinema and group LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) qualifications.

Always smiling and having a giggle

...but seriously-Holly and Lisa are inspirational teachers who have a natural affinity with kids. Their infectious personalities make learning so much fun and easy, and probably explains why they have so many kids in their classes.

Holly studied at Cambridge University and the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts before becoming a professional actress. Her acting career runs in parallel to her teaching career; most recently she has been appearing at Shakespeare's Globe.

Lisa is a member of the an internationally acclaimed touring retro girl band The Tootsie Rollers and also teaches at leading performing arts academy Urdang.

Lisa and Holly met through teaching ten years ago and established ACE three years ago.

Here are what others have to say about ACE

We have been using the fantastic ACE team for 3 years now and have been thoroughly impressed by the work they do with the children. ACE have successfully prepared the whole school for LAMDA exams at all levels and always achieve Merits and Distinctions – nothing lower which is just incredible! ACE have helped our children to perform outstanding productions on stage at Greenwich Theatre as part of the school’s annual summer play. They help children with their acting and singing skills encouraging children to build on their confidence. The result is nothing short of a West End Musical! ACE are always very eager to work with the children as well as the Heath House staff and we simply love them and look forward to the day when ACE are coming in to teach! They are an absolute joy to have in the school with their fun, happy and positive outlook on life. Go ACE!

-Julie Gage, Year 6 Teacher, New End School, Hampstead

ACE coordinated, wrote and filmed a bespoke, french film for our year 6 leavers. The children had the opportunity to develop their language skills whilst learning how to act for camera. Every single child had screen time and important behind the scenes, technical roles. There was even a fantastic group dance and a mime sequence in the film! I saw a great boost in the confidence of my students and will definitely be booking ACE for future projects.
